Elevating brands with creative, purpose-driven storytelling

Life doesn't come with a Rider Guide. But the Sonar Foil System does.

Sonar Rider Guide

Developed the Sonar Rider Guide, a step‑by‑step, highly visual buyer’s guide that demystified North’s modular foil range for new riders and equipped global retailers and support teams with a clear, consistent reference.

North Kiteboarding & Foils Product Catalogues

Since 2019, led end-to-end development of North's bi-annual product catalogues, covering every product, feature and spare part across multiple seasons. Scoped and briefed each edition, interviewed product designers and team riders, wrote all product copy and creative taglines, and built visual tech glossaries, spec charts, rider size guides and wind‑range tables. Also coordinated photography and complex compatibility charts for spare parts. The result is a comprehensive product book that sales teams, retailers and riders now rely on as the definitive reference for the North range, and a depth of product knowledge that allows me to translate even the most technical detail into useful, engaging information. Red Bull King of the Air Partnership

Developed North’s first Red Bull King of the Air giveaway campaign to grow EDM subscriptions and brand engagement. In 2020, tasked with building a digital experience that would compete with official event coverage, I designed a dedicated live‑coverage hub on the North website, collaborated directly with Red Bull South Africa, and produced real‑time content, including conditions updates, trick explainers, rider profiles, embedded sponsored podcasts and contest mechanics. The result was event coverage that drew higher traffic than the Red Bull event homepage, significantly boosted North’s email database and positioned the brand as the go‑to source for King of the Air storytelling. Paddle For Hope

As co‑founder and Event Director of the Paddle For Hope charity SUP festival, I led the creation and growth of a flagship event supporting cancer rehabilitation. I chaired a volunteer committee of passionate stand‑up paddlers, athletes and cancer survivors, and mentored AUT students, giving them hands‑on experience in event operations. We staged the first event in the Auckland Viaduct during the 2011 Rugby World Cup, using the heightened buzz and foot traffic to attract spectators, fundraising and media attention. I shaped the end‑to‑end event narrative and comms with co‑founder and cancer survivor Karin Horen, developing sponsorship propositions for partners, and driving media and marketing across national, sports and lifestyle channels. From 2011-2018 the event attracted hundreds of paddlers, became a recognised fixture on the calendar, and raised over $400,000.

PaddleOn

Working with PINC & STEEL and our wider partner network, I helped evolve the annual Paddle For Hope event’s “hope, strength, courage” narrative into PaddleOn – a structured SUP‑based rehabilitation programme for people affected by cancer. My role was to bridge the gap between a high‑energy charity event and a credible, clinically informed rehab offering: articulating the health and wellbeing benefits of SUP, supporting the collection and storytelling of participant and clinician case studies, and ensuring consistent messaging across Starboard, event channels and
the rehabilitation partners. This work extended Paddle For Hope’s legacy from a one‑day fundraiser into an ongoing, scalable rehabilitation programme that continues to support survivors in New Zealand and beyond, and is frequently referenced as a model for how water‑based sport can contribute to recovery and resilience.

About me

I have spent much of my career turning complex ideas into stories that inspire change. From corporate boardrooms to community‑led sports events, I’ve helped leaders, founders and teams translate innovation and purpose into narratives that feel human, relatable and real. With more than 15 years’ experience across global brands, sport and non‑profit sectors, I am known for calm, collaborative leadership in high‑pressure environments and for guiding campaigns that land both emotionally and commercially. Whether working with senior executives on brand and reputation strategy, coordinating multi‑stakeholder campaigns under tight deadlines or briefing athletes and ambassadors for content and events, I bring a steady hand and a clear point of view. My writing blends precision with warmth, turning technical detail into accessible stories that build understanding and momentum. Outside of work, you’ll find me on the water surfing, foiling, paddling or racing waka ama, skiing or mountainbiking with my family, and finding balance in yoga, music, food and travel.
